Back in the Mission Field!!

I finally made it back! I had a quick window of opportunity for spring break- I took it!
I was able to stay for 10 days and once again spend time with those whom I worked with and served around. It was like I never left. We all seemed to pick up where we left off. Every day was a blessing- the Lord seemed to be put me in right place at the right time. I thanked God everyday for this opportunity to go back.

The first two days,
Kenner and Metairie.. The suburbs of New Orleans

How can one not be in LOVE with the trees?

The common broken sidewalks-- contributed to the bike crashes.
Quite obvious we're below sea level here.

Mary Petersen-- and baby Elisabeth. The best member missionary. So happy to have met and associate with this woman.

Les Buissons! Great entertainment. This couple keeps the missionary work going!

Mary Veazey. A stalwart recent convert! I couldn't help being drawn to this woman. She recently attended the temple!

'Da Quata' --French Quater

   Day three, four and five,
Pie and Jan Ferrell were to bring me back to Lafayette for a few days but first, we spent some time in down town New Orleans.

I was so fortunate to catch Miss Verline at work for a minute. This woman is my favorite recent convert. She exemplifies great strength in the Savior. I long for the Gone with the Wind days when she could have been my 'mammy'- I would always picture it.

I love the French influence! Its everywhere.

Moulin Rouge anyone?
''My name is Henri Marie Raymond Toulouse-Lautrec-Montfa.''

Back of the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square.

I love this shot.

The museums and cemeteries were favorites.
The cemeteries are MONUMENTAL. The following are quite little compared to the majority.
Unique to the area. ( Below sea level, flooding is a big probability. If flooding were to occur, the built up cement is to prevent bodies from floating all over the place--eeek)

Idiot people- many tombs have been broken in and robbed of their goodness.

Bayous, Marshes and Wetlands!

Back in Lafayette
Touring with Troy (swamp people) would've been ideal.
Ken and Jan sufficed-
-just playing. I love the Ferrell family. I'm treated like one of their own. See if you can't spot the gators on this swamp tour.

Referred to as 'duck weed', these tiny green dots look like a giant green sheet that covers the swamp. Rather, up close, you see there are millions in number.

The Manuel Family;
Teiki, Shaundrika, me, Jeovani and Shaundreia. I absolutely love this family.

I can't help but obsess over Jeovani!
He confirms the name of my future adopted child.

AHHHHHHH!!! Look who it is! My beautiful africana and I reunited. AND joined forces again for some member/missionary work on preparation day--weird only being a part-time missionary around her. Ha!

My Pie and Jan Ferrell. Love you!
